Hi Cat,
I wish I had met you in person. I’m sort of retired from guitar repairs now (I’m 80). But I still like to keep up with the techniques. Repairs can be harder than building from scratch and you have to be creative. Like you, I appreciate the challenge. I also like your positive attitude and your ability to communicate.

Cat, I’m 72, and I still do repairs. I haven’t worked on anything as valuable as you have, but I still enjoy it. You work through the pain, you compensate for parts of you that don’t work quite as well as they used to, and it’s still enjoyable. You’ll never stop being who you are. Like the 90 year old half-blind Master of the Oud guy, you’ll always have a way to contribute.

Having a great repairperson like Cat Fox near you is a blessing for a guitar player. I was lucky to have Don Teeter in the early days and many of his traits and philosophies are echoed by Cat. I have the arthritis in the hands and the stack of magnifying glasses too! Natalia – well done.
