I think I got on the boat about the same time as everyone else. I really love this guy’s wordsmithing, and was, as others said, instantaneously jealous of his ability. I don’t play music, don’t really listen to it all that much anymore, but Welles hit a “chord.” I hopped online back in April and bought tickets to a November show in San Francisco. I’m 64 so I’ll stick out like a Q-tip with my white hair at the Fillmore, but I don’t care.

Superb article, Jeffrey. As noted by many, your questions were so much better than those of ordinary interviews. Kudos to you for drawing out Jesse (although I suspect it wasn’t too difficult – he seems open and approachable).

I’ve been following Jesse on YT ever since I heard his first song. I’m a product of the 60’s, so very familiar with a lot of the singer/songwriter influences he’s named and already a fan of the type of music he produces. Jesse is so easy on the eyes; unpretentious, friendly and always smiling. Add his personal appeal to the dynamite songs he writes and you have a perfect combo. It’s so good to see him developing a dedicated following that guarantee we’ll be seeing more of him. Thank you, Jesse, for your trenchant lyrics and excellent music!

Great article, Jeffrey. I love this guy. I discovered Jesse though the song “Pilgrim”. It immediately caught my ear. It felt like an acoustic Zeppelin song with a hint of Beatles vocals. The article pointed out his Beatles influence. Even more fun that he plays a Stella parlor guitar. Looking forward to hearing more from him. Thank you!
