Thu Tran is a guitarist and songwriter whose intuitive approach to learning and teaching guitar puts an emphasis on the foundations. Thu’s style blends fingerstyle, flatpicking, and clawhammer techniques; he takes a humanistic approach, treating the guitar like a voice, letting the music breathe.
Lisa Liu is a leading voice in jazz guitar, performing and leading workshops around the world. Now based in San Francisco, Lisa explores connections between contemporary jazz, traditional folk, manouche, and solo guitar.
Mamie Minch has deep connections with acoustic guitars. She is not only an accomplished fingerstyle blues player but also a repair and restoration luthier at Brooklyn Lutherie. Mamie also hosts the Acoustic Guitar Camp at Ashokan.
As a fingerstyle jazz and acoustic guitarist, Sean McGowan combines many diverse musical influences with unconventional techniques to create a broad palette of textures for solo guitar. Sean teaches and performs at guitar festivals around the world and is a professor of music at University of Colorado Denver.
Isa Burke is an exceedingly versatile instrumentalist, songwriter, and producer. She has played with Aoife O’Donovan, the Mountain Goats, and her own band Lula Wiles. She plays guitar and fiddle, and sings in her own style that draws from traditional folk, modern indie-rock, and beyond.
